Lizzie (Megan Boone) is no stranger to shrugging off her own mortality. The profiler faked her death before, and, as many viewers suspected, the crafty consultant may have dodged a bullet once more. If fans are to be believed, Harold Cooper (Harry Lennix) just eulogized a perfectly respectable casket of sand.
Filming for The Blacklist season 3 finale too to the streets last week, and the Internet is rife with rumors hinting at Boone’s on set presence. When Liz died in “Mr. Solomon Conclusion,” many viewers assumed here absence was merely a way for the NBC series to explain away Boone’s maternity leave. The actress gave birth to a healthy baby girl in mid-April, and the finale would be prime real estate to showcase Liz’s shocking return.

Are these sightings merely a rumor? We certainly hope not. In the real world, another FBI agent could easily step into Liz’s shoes. For the series, however, that’s not a plausible option. Fans have invested three years in the Liz/Red (James Spader) dynamic and with so many unanswered questions still hanging in the air, were loath to believe writers would casually send Ms. Keen to the afterlife.
While viewers anxiously await the finale, Red and Co. will dive into the penultimate episode this Thursday. Titled “Alexander Kirk,” episode 22 will bring a powerful new foe into the narrative (see a preview below).
“The FBI task force’s hunt for revenge nears its endgame,” NBC teased. “As Reddington and the team close in on the mysterious arch-criminal responsible for recent tragic events, they’re forced to operate outside their comfort zone — and outside the law — in order to take down their enemy once and for all.”
