‘Criminal Minds’ Season 12: New FBI BAU Agent Replaces Derek Morgan; Would There Be Crossover?

“Criminal Minds” Season 12 will pick up from where the last season ended. Firstly, the premiere will be showing the entry of a new FBI BAU Agent replacing Derek Morgan (Shemar Moore) who had decided to leave the show for personal reasons. Moreover, Mr. Scratch is also expected to return to the scene.

According to Erica Messer, the production house is currently in talks with actors for a possible replacement to Derek, reports Christian Times. The executive producer said that they would be having discussions regarding it in June and decide what to do about it. Messer stated that they did not want a shrinking cast and did want more people in the field.

According to her, since there are a lot of unsubs to be captured and with so many serial killers out there, the “Criminal Minds” Season 12 will not be able to function in full with one agent down. Hence, the upcoming team will go ahead in full-steam although nothing is decided as of yet regarding the replacement for Derek Morgan.

Will The Series Spin-off Another Cross-over?

“Criminal Minds” previous season spin-off with “Beyond Borders” attracted massive viewership. Is there a chance of the upcoming season also trying for another crossover episode? Viewers will certainly like the two shows to do it and come up with some epic stories. Who would not like to see both Gary Sinise and Thomas Gibson on the same platform?

Now, that the show has lost one of its primary highlight, Derek Morgan, the epic crossover event can give a new boost to “Criminal Minds” Season 12 as it premieres. However, according to Cartermatt, the only thing that can prove to be a hurdle in this plan is that “Beyond Borders” is yet to have a set premiere date.

The Season 11 of the show ended on a major cliffhanger as the innocent dinner of the team turned into chaos when the place of Rossi (Joe Mantegna) is cut, and the team learns that three more prison escape. Peter Lewis escapes along with 12 other serial killers creating more trouble for the team.

“Criminal Minds” Season 12 is expected to start with the team hunting down the perpetrators. Will they catch them?
