A sneak peek into “Blacklist” season 4 shows Red (James Spader) saving Liz (Megan Boone) from Alexander Kirk (Ulrich Thomsen). It also hints at a deeper revelation about Liz’s past.
Viewers have been wondering what will happen to the relationship of Liz and Red after the events that unfolded in the previous season. It will be remembered that Liz faked her death so that she can run away from Red together with her husband Tom (Ryan Eggold) and their child.
Before they could proceed with their plans, however, Liz was abducted by Alexander who revealed himself to be her real biological father. But it looks like the reunion will not last long as the sneak peek shared by Entertainment Weekly shows Red rescuing Liz from Alexander.
The clip also teases that Liz’s twisted past will be uncovered. For the past seasons, viewers were being teased about the true nature of Liz and Red’s relationship, which led many to believe that the former is really the latter’s daughter. Despite Alex’s claim, some viewers still doubt his confession, but executive producer Jon Bokenkamp said, “I don’t know we wouldn’t believe him. Red’s said before that he’s not Liz’s father.”
Viewers are wondering if the upcoming season will finally reveal why Red cares about Liz so much. They are also wondering what will happen when Red finds out that Liz deliberately faked her death to get away from him.
In another interview, Bokenkamp said, “I think the decision Liz made to fake her death will have significant impacts, not only with Red, but with the entire team!” He added, “I think there is a lot of fertile material there, story wise, and it’s going to be a big part of season 4.”
“The Blacklist” season 4 will return on Sept. 22 on NBC.
