It will be less than a month before “NCIS” Season 14 premieres, and fans are already excited to see the old team back. As have been previously announced, however, Gibbs’ NCIS team will be one man down with the departure from the series of Michael Weatherly, who plays the well-loved Anthony DiNozzo.
In his place, Wilmer Valderrama and Jennifer Esposito, who will be playing Nicholas “Nick” Torres and Alexandra “Alex” Quinn, respectively, were signed on to join the series. Duane Henry, who will be playing an MI6 Officer was also cast, but will be appearing a bit later than the first two.
CBS has released the storyline for the premiere of “NCIS” Season 14. It bared that two of the new characters will immediately get to taste the thrill and excitement that the long-running crime drama is known for.
No strangers to one another
Valderrama and Esposito shared in the recent 2016 TCA what is in store for the loyal viewers of “NCIS” Season 14. Esposito disclosed that her character and Leroy Jethro Gibbs, who is played by Mark Harmon, will not be strangers, having known each other in the past.
Esposito plays a Special Agent who who will return to the field after being an NCIS training instructor for several years. She said that something happened in her character’s life that led her to teaching. Esposito further divulged that it was Gibbs who drew her back into the game.
However, the 43-year-old actress admitted to being not sure how their two characters were exactly linked in the past. Based on the storyline of the first episode of “NCIS” Season 4, Special Agent Quinn will be assigned by Gibbs to shadow his team after he rejected the eight agents she referred to him.
Big fan of NCIS
Meanwhile, according to Valderrama, his character, Torres, and Quinn have also met previously. He said that Torres trained him and they may even have had a past together. Agent Torres has been an undercover agent for eight years and has already faced numerous conflicts between his career and personal life.
Valderrama further admitted that he was a big fan of “NCIS” before joining the cast. The new cast members raved about working with Harmon, who, despite having to play the same character for 14 years, still succeeds in putting energy and excitement in each of his scenes. Because of that, he is able to set the tone for all the other cast members.
The “NCIS” Season 14 premiere airs on September 20 on CBS.
