Fans of the show have been desperate to see the demise of the masochistic villain ever since he beat Glenn Rhee (played by Steven Yeun) and Abraham Ford (Michael Cudlitz) to death, and now it seems he may not make it to the next series.Norman Reedus, who stars as Daryl Dixon, opened up about the season seven finale and dropped a major hint that he could be the one who kills Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan).
He said that he was happy to see that the Alexandrians finally take up arms against his former captor.
Speaking of how he felt after he read through his final script, he said: “I was like, ‘Yes, let’s get back to it!’
“It’s nice to finally let a window open up in this room and let some of this air out here, and it’s nice to get some freedom and some dirt underneath your feet and start running towards killing this guy.”
The actor added that the closing instalment is “completely different than all the other ones” and had him and co-star Andrew Lincoln, who plays Rick Grimes, doing a celebratory dance.
“I think he likes to do little jigs here and there,” Norman told Entertainment Weekly. “But I get it. I did the same thing when I read that one.”
It comes after Andrew promised fans of the zombie series that they would be “satisfied” with the ending of season seven.
“There’s a palpable sense of energy and excitement in that final episode,” he noted. “I think that the crew felt it, this sort of brilliancy.
“And it was weird because it was the end of a long season and yet everybody was sort of chomping at the bit to keep going. I’ve never felt that before in the show.”
The 43-year-old continued: “Everybody was like, ‘Yeah, darn it, let’s do season eight now!’ It was a really unique situation and everybody felt it.
“So I think if we get it right, it will be an incredibly satisfying ending to season seven.”
The Walking Dead continues on Monday on Fox at 9pm.
