The Walking Dead season 8: Showrunner Scott Gimple teases doom for one character

Warning: Contains spoilers for The Walking Dead season seven.

The Walking Dead’s seventh season may have only just come to a climactic conclusion, but attention has already spun towards who could on the chopping block in season eight.

Showrunner Scott Gimple has already teased how the next season will ‘melt people’s minds’, and now he’s expanded his comments about how one particular character could be in a sticky situation.

Speaking to Variety, Scott went into detail about a moment in the season seven finale, saying: ‘[Eugene] said he’s Negan in front of everybody.

‘He has still not found the strength to get over his fear. He’s still Negan after seeing everything Sasha is doing. I don’t think it looks good for Eugene.

‘But with everything Sasha {Sonequa Martin-Green) said to him, maybe his courage is just lying dormant,’ he added.

Considering it’s questionable whether Negan actually knows Eugene gave Sasha the poison to kill herself, could Negan simply be rearing a Eugene-shaped lamb for the slaughter?

The Walking Dead’s recent finale however has seemingly divided viewers over whether it was a worthwhile conclusion to a patchy season.

It’s unconfirmed when the show will return for season eight, but it’s expected to drop sometime around October 2018.
