HBO Spills New Details on Game of Thrones’ Final Season

JUST after the show’s latest trailer was released and ahead of its seventh season premiere in July, sources have confirmed that Season 8 of Game of Thrones will only be 6 episodes long.

After much speculation surrounding comments made by HBO programming president Casey Bloys, the network finally gave in and delivered the unfortunate news.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, viewers do not have to feel abandoned as HBO is already working on five potential series to serve as a successor to the wildly popular fantasy drama from creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss.

Author George R.R. Martin, whose series of books the show is based on, recently stated: “What we do have here is an order for four — now five — pilot scripts. How many pilots will be filmed, and how many series might come out of that, remains to be seen.”

With the new season rapidly approaching and still much storyline to be resolved, viewers can only hope that the last six episodes will do the epic show some justice.

Just days ago, HBO released a new trailer for the upcoming seventh season — after a brutal 11-month wait.

“The great war is here,” Jon Snow announces in no uncertain terms as the trailer ends.

“Enemies to the East. Enemies to the West. Enemies to the South. Enemies to the North. Whatever stands in our way, we will defeat it,” Queen Cersei Lannister can be heard saying.

The thump of marching soldiers beats a steady rhythm as the clip reveals Lannister legions advancing toward the unknown in battle regalia.

“I was born to rule the Seven Kingdoms … and I will,” a defiant-sounding Daenerys Targaryen whispers amid scenes of dragons soaring over battlefields — an apparent hint at her return from exile.
